Palmdale Councilmember Richard J. Loa has been nominated to the Executive Committee of the Blue Ribbon Commission on Homelessness (BRCH). According to Palmdale's official website, Loa's nomination is pending confirmation from the LA City Selection Committee.
The Blue Ribbon Commission on Homelessness was founded by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors in July 2021, intending to improve homelessness governance and provide crucial housing and services.
Upon learning of his nomination, Loa shared his excitement and qualifications for the role. He commented, "My background in criminal, civil, and real estate law gives me a unique perspective on homelessness issues."
The BRCH structure is diverse to ensure that the full spectrum of voices is considered in the fight to end homelessness. Among the mix are elected officials from across the region, two Supervisors' Board members, and even an appointee by the California Governor.
