Pasadena's streets ran cold with terror back in June, and now local law enforcement is dialing up their plea to the public to help bring the heat on a gunman tied to not one, but two chilling attempted homicides. On Saturday evening, the Pasadena Police Department was summoned by the sharp ear of their ShotSpotter system, as posted on their Facebook page.
At 9:12 p.m., bullets tore through the calm on the 00 Block of West Peoria Street—a distress picked up by ShotSpotter alert. Officers racing to the scene were met with a grim token of violence, but the victims, booked it to safety at a local hospital, licking non-life-threatening wounds.
At 9:38 p.m., a second symphony of gunfire rang out. This time, Marengo Avenue and Painter Street was the stage for this macabre dance. The police found a man, stricken with potential death, sprawled in the street, the night's silence interrupted by the panting of an infant whose car seat was punctured by the indiscriminate fury of wayward bullets.
The detectives, card-carrying members of the force's Robbery / Homicide Unit, have since been combing over the grim details, piecing together a puzzle that points to a vehicle of interest—a shadowy 2010 or 2012 Black Ford Fusion with dark-tinted windows.
