The recent rainfall in Los Angeles has led to a rain advisory. The warning is in effect until on the 18th at 1:30 p.m., as rainwater could potentially pose health risks according to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.
Authorities advise beachgoers to evade contact with ocean and bay waters, especially near storm drains, creeks, rivers, and any runoff areas. These sites can become contaminated with bacteria, chemicals, debris, trash, and other hazards from city streets and mountain areas after rainfall. Prolonged exposure could lead to illness; thus, keeping distance is recommended.
The advisory will remain for 72 hours post-rainfall and may extend if additional rain occurs. Information about beach conditions and closures can be obtained from the county's 24-hour hotline at 1-800-525-5662 or the Department of Public Health beach website.
