On November 12, a tragic incident occurred in Rancho Mirage when an attempted suicide report evolved into a suspected murder-suicide investigation. According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Office, deputies found a man and a woman with gunshot injuries at a residence on Lyon Street. The man died at the scene, and the woman was declared dead later at a local hospital.
The Central Homicide Unit quickly took over the investigation, securing the area. Despite the incident's shock in the community, authorities say there appears to be no immediate threat to the public, nor are there any suspects at large. The identities of the people involved have yet to be released as notifications of next of kin are pending.
As it currently stands, the Central Homicide Unit and the Palm Desert Sheriff Station are jointly investigating the case.
