Following yesterday's chilling homicide on the 2500 block of Pomo Trail in Santa Rosa, Luis Gustavo Aroyo-Lopez, the primary suspect, has been apprehended in San Francisco. The arrest was confirmed by the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) in an official Facebook post. The SRPD Violent Crimes Investigations team is still investigating the case, with more details about the arrest and investigation forthcoming.
Aroyo-Lopez became a central fugitive after authorities requested public help to capture him. A $2500 reward was offered to anyone providing information leading to his arrest. The gruesome case involves the decapitated body of Aroyo-Lopez's relative, found at the crime scene. Authorities believed that Aroyo-Lopez was armed and dangerous, potentially carrying the victim's head.
According to a Hoodline article, Aroyo-Lopez, a 24-year-old Hispanic male, stands 5-foot 6-inches, weighs 150 pounds, and has distinct tattoos, including "420" and a marijuana leaf, on the left side of his head. Previously, Aroyo-Lopez was incarcerated for assault with a deadly weapon and weapons possession charges unrelated to the current crime. After recently being released from prison, he was placed under Postrelease Community Supervision (PRCS).
