
A recent traffic accident in Long Beach resulted in numerous injuries, leading to the temporary closure of South Street between Myrtle Avenue and Lewis Avenue. As reported by the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) via Facebook, the incident occurred yesterday when a speeding sedan ran a stop sign at the intersection of South Street and California Avenue, colliding with a Long Beach Transit bus and a building.
An update from LBPD to swiftly stop revealed that the sedan was southbound on California Avenue when it failed a stop sign. The collision resulted in injuries to individuals in the sedan, the bus, and a nearby building, with injuries ranging from minor to critical-but-stable.
The LBPD has finalized its on-the-spot investigation and reopened South Street. However, the Division of Collision Investigations is continuing its thorough review of the incident. If necessary, the City of Long Beach will provide additional updates pertaining to the case.
