"Neighbors watch out for neighbors! If you will be staying home or traveling, help keep an eye out for suspicious activity and report it to your local law enforcement," reads an advisory posted on LASD's website. They're dishing out the same advice for the online shopper hooked on Cyber Monday deals as it is for the Black Friday warriors storming the malls, "Be wary of online deals that are too good to be true. Do your research on whoever you are buying from," the LASD warns.
The LASD suggests setting "lights on timers, giving the impression the house is not alone." And if those holiday spirits turn into spirited holidays, they nudge the merry and bright to a safer yuletide tradition: "Celebrate responsibly by planning ahead. Even if you’ve had only one drink, play it safe and designate a sober driver or use a ride-share service to get home." Because at the end of the day, or night, the sheriff's department is wishing for nothing more than a "safe, productive crime free shopping season" for all.
