A man named Marcus Edward Duran was arrested on November 6, 2023, after starting a fire inside a dumpster at the Rancho Cucamonga train station. As confirmed by the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department, the 23-year-old Corona resident was apprehended by the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department after he was spotted on a live surveillance video igniting the fire.
According to the Sheriff-Coroner Department's report, Duran sparked the fire in the dumpster at the Metrolink Station at 11208 Azusa Street to warm himself up as the temperature dropped. He had been waiting for his ride. The rapid intervention of the Rancho Cucamonga Fire Department ensured the prompt extinguishing of the fire, preventing significant damage and public safety threats.
