Earlier this month, a male suspect reportedly aimed a rifle at an employee of West Hollywood's Larchmont Charter School. This triggered a lockdown and an immediate response from law enforcement. Responding to the event, the LAPD Headquarters stated on a Facebook post that the suspect was apprehended by the LA County Sheriff's Department (LASD) in the Hollywood vicinity without any reported injuries or persistent threats.
As per the ABC7 report, Larchmont Charter School staff acted quickly. In an email sent to parents and families, it was disclosed that security cameras were used to document the suspect's actions, which was then conveyed to authorities. Thanks to this security measure, LASD was able to precisely locate and arrest the suspect. The identity of the suspect remains undisclosed. Surveillance video reviewed following the incident shows the suspect wandering amidst parked cars, carrying a rifle in his hands, before stopping and raising the weapon. The intent is unclear as to what or who the man was targeting.
Expectedly shaken, parents, students, and staff responded to the incident. In an effort to explain the ordeal, one parent, Gregory Poux, shared his experience with ABC7, expressing the comfort brought by the school's lockdown measures and the swift communication with parents via text messages that kept them informed.
