
Attorney General Ken Paxton named Aaron Nielson as the new Solicitor General of Texas, according to an official press release. This appointment reinforces the state's commitment to strengthening its appellate leadership and addressing intricate legal matters.
Nielson, a recognized legal expert, will lead the pivotal appellate work for some of Texas's most noteworthy cases. With a solid background in administrative law, civil procedure, antitrust, and federal courts, his appointment guarantees a deep pool of knowledge to assist Texas in its judicial confrontations.
Alongside his comprehensive legal understanding, Nielson carries a unique viewpoint that will be beneficial for the state. He served as a law professor at Brigham Young University's J. Reuben Clark Law School and acted as Chair of the Administration and Management Committee of the Administrative Conference of the United States. Nielson has represented clients in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, earning nationwide recognition when the U.S. Supreme Court appointed him to brief and argue the Collins v. Yellen, a case concerning the separation of powers in the Federal Housing Finance Agency.
His role as Solicitor General will include more than just addressing present legal issues in Texas. His experience as an educator and researcher will provide additional substance to the state's judicial structure. Nielson's publications have been featured in premiere journals including University of Pennsylvania Law Review, Duke Law Journal, and the University of Chicago Law Review.
