The catastrophic smashup occurred on the 10600 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard near Airport Boulevard around 2 a.m. according to KTRK.
An eyewitness claimed the driver barreled through a red light before losing control. "It appears the car struck a curb, left the roadway, and hit a tree," the Houston Police Department stated. The ill-fated driver was declared deceased at the chaotic scene, where the vehicle's twisted remains told a grim tale of the violent impact. Two other occupants were whisked away to local trauma centers, one with injuries described as more substantial than the others as reported by the Houston Chronicle.
The incident required the painstaking efforts of first responders, who, according to HPD, had to cut a free part of the demolished vehicle to extricate a passenger trapped within its mangled confines.
