Two separate incidents have shocked communities, resulting in the loss of loved ones and leaving others injured. In Dallas' Lake Highlands, a woman was killed and a man injured in a house fire earlier today, while on the same day in northwest Las Vegas, a man fell victim to fatal gunfire and another person was wounded as per Dallas News and Fox 5 Vegas.
Dallas News reported a house fire at around 7:10 p.m. in the 12200 block of Schroeder Road. Alerted by smoke, a neighbor attempted to help but was unsuccessful. Firefighters were notified of possible trapped residents. A woman was found deceased, while a man was revived and hospitalized. Investigations are ongoing into the cause of the death and the fire.
According to a report by Fox 5 Vegas, a shooting occurred around 9:15 p.m. in the vicinity of Gowan Road and Cheyenne Way. Upon arrival, police discovered a man dead from gunshot wounds. Another person, also shot but not critically, transported themselves to the hospital. The shooting is under investigation.
