A fatal encounter between a pedestrian and a luxury vehicle leaves one dead on Houston streets in what appears to be a tragic misstep outside the safe harbor of designated crosswalks. 54-year-old Carol Coleman met her untimely end on the unforgiving asphalt of Old Spanish Trail near 3900 when she was hit by a gray Mercedes GLA 350, according to Houston authorities.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant F. Briones and Officer X. Zhang relayed that the incident occurred around 7 p.m. on a Saturday, not in a designated crosswalk, the victim was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital.
The driver of the Mercedes, another 54-year-old woman whose identity hasn't been revealed, stood her ground as she faced questioning by the law; she was found to be sober as the day is long, and hence was released without charges.
