Tragedy struck Thanksgiving evening in West Covina when a horrific multi-vehicle crash claimed the lives of two motorcyclists, according to officials and the Citizen app footage which captured the chilling aftermath. The collision occurred near the intersection of Amar Road and Westport Street shortly after 5 p.m., involving a motorcycle that ended up lying on its side, ensnared in a large plume of smoke, as reported by KTLA.
As per the West Covina Police Department's preliminary investigation, which is still ongoing, the devastating incident involved two additional vehicles whose occupants sustained minor, non-life-threatening injuries, according to the West Covina Police Department. Meanwhile, the motorcycle's driver and passenger were declared deceased at the scene.
Authorities from the West Covina Police and Fire departments were dispatched to the scene of the tragedy at approximately 5:10 p.m., as indicated in a release by the West Covina Police Department – alcohol and drugs not currently considered as factors in the collision with the department's Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) diving deeper into the situation to piece together the events that led to such a fatal end.
The thoroughfare was cloaked in silence after the crash, with Amar Road closed off between Temple Avenue and Shadow Oak Drive throughout the evening to allow investigators to scrutinize the scene.
