On November 1, a pursuit transpired in Victorville, California, between police and a DUI driver. The suspect refused to adhere to traffic regulations, posing a significant danger. The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department declared that a pursuit intervention technique (PIT) maneuver was used to halt and detain the suspect, thereby preventing further harm and destruction.
After bypassing an initial traffic stop, the driver, identified as 47-year-old David Archuletta from Riverside, California, led the officers on a pursuit for five miles. Archuletta committed several traffic infractions, leading to the strategy of implementing a PIT maneuver to promptly halt his vehicle. The tactic, though hazardous, proved successful.
Archuletta was subsequently arrested for failing to yield and driving under the influence.
