A violent altercation took place at Los Angeles's Van Nuys High School yesterday, resulting in two students receiving stab wounds and two others sustaining injuries. The incident occurred at approximately 11 a.m. in the school's courtyard, involving an estimated 11 students, as reported by ABC7. Alberto Carvalho, Superintendent of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), informed that three students were apprehended after the matter, and the school was briefly placed on lockdown to protect other students.
Though the weapon responsible for the stabbings is still undisclosed, the inflicted injuries are not fatal, confirms NBC Los Angeles.
Previously, LAUSD did not permit LA School Police officers on campuses. However, in response to the attack, Superintendent Carvalho reversed this policy, permitting officers on school grounds, according to KTLA.
