The assault took place during the Monday rush on December 12 at around 4:00 p.m. on a stretch of South Flower Street. Jalil Sosa Illera, aged 27, was involved in a deadly confrontation aboard an MTA train that left him with fatal stab wounds. He was pronounced dead shortly after his transport to a local hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics, the Hoodline reported.
Before Carrillo-Martinez's surrender, the LAPD sought help through public channels. Describing the then-unidentified assailant as a male Hispanic or Filipino, standing between 5 feet 7 and 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing around 160 pounds, law enforcement shared an appeal that included video evidence.
Following Carrillo-Martinez's self-presented arrest, the LAPD announced that the suspect who turned himself in matched the description previously circulated and was responsible for the atrocity on the Metro Rail. As the case advances, detectives are preparing to present their findings to the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office for filing consideration, according to an update from the LAPD on information initially released by Hoodline.
