Atlanta police are on the hunt for a cat burglar who targeted small businesses, disrupting the Christmas cheer with a Grinch-like racket. Two community favorites, 404 Coffee and The Juicy Joint in southwest Atlanta, were hit by this evening prowler, authorities said. The thief shattered the festive air and glass door fronts in the early hours of December 19, and made away with the cash registers, leaving more than just a trail of glass behind.
According to 11Alive, the suspect, who has yet to be nabbed, is accused of breaking into both establishments located at 847 McDaniel Street. It seems that throwing rocks through their front doors, he was able to gain entry and commit the theft.
The criminal did more than steal property—he stole peace of mind from these entrepreneurs during what should be the most wonderful time of the year. "The owner of 404 Coffee told police their cash register was empty," as disclosed by Atlanta News First, a detail that may offer slight relief but little consolation against the violation experienced.
With fingerprint dust settling on the scenes of the crime, detectives are hard at work in pursuit of this modern-day holiday marauder.
