Flying out of Austin just got a little less chaotic. According to The Austin American-Statesman, the city's airport has introduced a new online service allowing travelers to reserve airport parking spots before even stepping foot on the terminal grounds.
The system is designed to quickly let passengers book spots in both the parking garages and surface lots at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS). Reservations can be secured up to a full day ahead of arrival times, easing the last-minute scramble to find a vacant space. "For AUS, it is a priority to provide our passengers with convenient and comfortable experiences—even before they get to the airport," said Mookie Patel, Chief Business and Finance Officer, in a statement obtained by The Austin American-Statesman.
Passengers eager to park and fly can now scoot over to ABIAParking.com and lock down their spots without the hassle of circling for parking. This sleek move is not just about convenience; it's business smart. Parking fees play a critical role in the airport's revenue, which is funneled into both immediate and future development projects essential for the airport's growth.
And growth is indeed on the radar. AUS officials project to welcome a record-breaking 22 million passengers by the year's end, upping the ante from last year's 21 million. “Guaranteeing a parking space makes things less stressful and saves time for travelers. This reservation system eliminates the guesswork for travelers hoping to securely snag a space day off during busy peak periods,” Patel tracked on, according to a KXAN report.
With the holiday rush and the ever-increasing number of events drawing visitors to Austin, this preemptive parking plan could be just the ticket for a smoother departure. Or at least one less obstacle between you and your pre-flight coffee.
