The warm trend is poised to continue through New Year's Eve with Sunday forecasted to top out in the low 70s. A sunny sky will accompany a breezy south-southwest wind gusting up to 20 miles per hour, as reported by KVUE.
The new year signals a stark shift in weather, bringing a breezy and much colder front that will see New Year's Day reach merely the high 50s. The north wind will blow 10 to 15 mph, and gusts could reach as high as 20 mph, as per the National Weather Service.
Looking further ahead, Austinites should brace themselves for a busy weather week post-New Year's celebration. Tuesday is expected to usher in our first round of significant rain and possibly a thunderstorm after noon with the chance of precipitation pegged at 80%. While this initial rain is likely to wind down by Wednesday morning, a second round of potentially beneficial rain could hit by Friday, as stated by the National Weather Service.
