Chaos erupted in Long Beach last night as unsuspecting walkers found themselves in the crossfire of unsolicited bullets, causing one to be wounded in what police are calling a "hit-shooting." As reported by Long Beach Police Department's official website, the incident took place near Ocean Boulevard and Alamitos Avenue at around 9:09 p.m. on December 8.
A male victim, hit by the gunfire while simply walking, found himself having to self-transport to a nearby hospital after he was struck in the lower body. Walking, he heard what he assumed was gunfire from an undetermined location, it's a small miracle the injuries sustained weren't life-threatening. This statement was issued following his arrival at the local hospital, where he received treatment for his injuries.
Responding to the call, Long Beach police officers scoured the scene but came up empty-handed; the shooter, as well as the motive, remained at large, with no crime scene to boot. With no other reported injuries, this lone victim's ordeal stands out as a stark reminder of the senseless violence that continues to plague our streets.
