Chief Roberto Arredondo of the Carrollton Police Department has appointed Commander Vic Humphrey as the new Assistant Police Chief, effective December 12. Humphrey brings over thirty years of experience to the role, succeeding former Assistant Chief Paul Fritz, who recently departed for a position in Farmers Branch.
Humphrey boasts an extensive background that includes operations, intelligence, and hostage negotiations. He will now head the Investigations Bureau, responsible for both investigative work and administrative duties, as outlined in a city announcement.
"I'm proud to promote Vic Humphrey as our new Assistant Chief," stated Chief Arredondo. Despite the competition from seven candidates, Humphrey's combination of police expertise and leadership prowess ultimately won him the role.
In addition to multiple Meritorious Conduct Awards and a Life Saving Award, Humphrey is recognized for his versatile skill set in various police sectors, which he now aims to employ in his latest position.
"I'm honored to step into this new role," said Humphrey, expressing his commitment to "serving the community and citizens of Carrollton through transparency, accountability, and procedural justice." His experience spans nationally, with credentials such as a Master Peace Officer license and specialized training from esteemed law enforcement institutions.
Humphrey is also well-educated in his field, holding a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University and a Master Certificate in Criminal Justice Leadership from the University of Virginia.
