
After more than four decades in law enforcement, Danny Alexander, the Police Planning and Research Division Manager for the City of Plano, is set to retire at the year's end. Along with over 15 years of dedicated service to Plano, Alexander's lengthy career spanned various roles including his time as a Police Chief in Texarkana and Bullard, as well as a Deputy Chief in Tyler, according to the Plano Texas Police Department.
During his tenure with Plano, which began in February 2008, Alexander made his mark by notably shaping the Crime Analysis Unit into a model of excellence, the unit now stands as a pinnacle of success, frequently hosting crime analysts from other law enforcement agencies looking to replicate its effectiveness. In tribute to his efforts, the City of Plano praised him for his key contributions and for driving the unit forward, emphasizing the recruitment of Nicole Offerdahl as a pivotal move in solidifying the unit’s reputation.
Alexander's repertoire includes a Master of Public Affairs from the University of Texas at Dallas and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from LeTourneau University, further bolstered by a Master Peace Officer certification and an alma mater of the FBI National Academy. His educational background coupled with a vast array of experiences provided the foundation for his instrumental leadership within the department.
The City of Plano, reflecting on Alexander's impending departure, acknowledges the significant void his retirement will leave behind, noting his valuable leadership stems from his impressive breadth of knowledge and experience. His career has been punctuated by numerous commendations including a Chief’s Unit Award, and a nomination for Civilian Supervisor of the Year in 2011. His retirement marks the end of an era for the Plano Police Department.
