
Early morning recklessness on Canal Street may have ruined Christmas cheer for some when a driver slammed into a row of parked cars in San Rafael. The San Rafael Police Department (SRPD) reported the crash occurred at approximately 7:45 AM on the 200 block of Canal Street. According to an X post from the department, it seems speed was the main ingredient in this holiday havoc.

At around 7:45 AM, SRPD Officers responded to the 200 block of Canal Street on a report of vehicle that collided into a row of parked cars.

The driver, whose name was not released, reportedly lost control and veered into the parked vehicles. The police confirmed that, "Drugs and alcohol were not a factor," in the mishap. Fortunately, no injuries were reported due to the incident.
In response to the accident, SRPD issued a public reminder, calling for residents to ease off the gas pedal during the festive period. "Let’s get through the holiday season safe and sound,” the department urged in its message, making it clear that the community's safety is paramount during a season marred by too many tragedies born of carelessness. "SLOW DOWN and be alert," they continued, promoting the #SlowDown and #DriveSafe hashtags as more than mere slogans but as life-saving imperatives.
