Troi Phillip Moore, a former kindergarten teacher, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for sexually abusing a 6-year-old student at Tamarron Elementary School in Fort Bend County, Texas. The 47-year-old was convicted of two second-degree felonies related to the abuse, according to authorities.
Reported by Fox 26 Houston, Moore faced a charge each for Indecency with a Child by Sexual Contact, and Indecency with a Child by Exposure, sentences that will run consecutively, ensuring he remains incarcerated for the full 20-year term.
Fort Bend County jurors swiftly concluded their deliberations within approximately two hours. In a revealing move, Moore waived his right to appeal, a decision highlighted by ABC13. The incident, which occurred in 2021, was brought to public attention after the young victim, now 8 years old, courageously testified against Moore in court.
Lead prosecutor Alycia Curtis commented, "This case is truly a parent’s worst nightmare," noting the expectation of safety in schools. Her praise extended to the child's quick-acting parents who reported the abuse, ensuring Moore's prompt apprehension and subsequent registration as a sex offender.
