
A tragic incident occurred in north Houston Sunday, where a person was killed after a driver ran a red light and sparked a multi-car crash, as reported by Click2Houston. The crash, which involved four vehicles, unfolded before 3 p.m. at the intersection of Canino Road and Airline Drive.
Details provided by the Houston Police indicate that the victim was traveling eastbound on Canino Road when their vehicle was t-boned by a suspect's vehicle coming from the south on Airline Drive. In a fatal turn of events, the victim, who was not strapped by a seatbelt, was ejected from their car and subsequently died when their own vehicle landed on top of them. It is a grim reminder of the consequences of traffic violations and the importance of safety restraints.
Further chaos ensued as the suspect's vehicle carried on, colliding with a second vehicle and causing a chain reaction involving two additional vehicles. ABC13 noted that witnesses at a nearby tire shop attempted to come to the man’s aid, utilizing jacks to lift the car; however, police confirmed that the man perished at the scene.
Following the initial impact, the driver of the silver truck believed to be responsible for the collision, along with passengers, abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. The authorities have been conducting a manhunt for those involved in this hit-and-run. Police have asserted they have a possible address for the driver, and officers were heading there.
