An early morning inferno in Sylmar turned a residential blaze into a cinematic nightmare as firefighters battled not just flames but potential booby traps and live ammunition. The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) was summoned to the fracas at a one-story home located at 13745 N Glenoaks Boulevard around 4:42 AM. Firefighters arrived to the terrifying orchestra of ammo discharging, with the scene reminiscent of a war zone, as reported by Hoodline.
During the chaos, the fire spread to two more buildings, prompting firefighters to take a defensive approach due to unconfirmed reports of booby traps and suspicions of criminal activity on the property. The fire engulfed not only the home but also two other buildings, creating a dangerous situation for the firefighters. After battling the blaze for one hour and 17 minutes from the outside, the LAFD reported their courageous victory.
Though firefighters stopped the flames from spreading, their day continued. Among the burned buildings, they found a body and a stash of weapons. Law enforcement now has the area cordoned off for investigation.
As the sun climbed higher, the LAFD and LAPD first responders remained steadfast, navigating the ruins. The City's Department of Building & Safety'red-tagged' the buildings, an ominous decree deeming them structurally unsound and barred for entry. "LAFD crews will be working throughout the day alongside fire cause investigators, police officials, and the Medical Examiner to assure hazard abatement," ensuring a scrupulous probe into the fire's origin and respect for the deceased, as mentioned by Brian Humphrey on the LAFD report.
