The latest addition to Fort Worth's vibrant public art scene, a mesmerizing stainless steel sculpture titled "Seed the Future," is set to grace Trail Drivers Park this Saturday. Artist Karla Garcia's latest work, a mirrored sculpture inspired by migration and the local landscape, will be on public display from 9 a.m. at the park's north edge, situated at 2502 Guenther Ave., near 28th Street, according to the City of Fort Worth.
Fresh from the studio, Garcia's piece plays with the familiar form of the dandelion, reinterpreted through the robust figure of cattle horns to portray a sense of repetition and movement—capturing both the spirit of the past and the dynamic present of the community. An artist talk by Garcia will immediately follow the unveiling, where she'll discuss her broader studio practice and the connections to this particular piece.
Cheeky and reflective, the "Seed the Future" sculpture serves as a visual allegory for the enduring legacy of the Trail Drivers Park area. Garcia's sculpture is a nod to the wide-spreading seed flower, symbolizing growth and migration in a community well-versed in both concepts, per the City of Fort Worth.
The Trail Drivers Park addition is the latest in Fort Worth’s ongoing endeavor to enrich its public spaces with art that resonates with locals and visitors alike. The north edge of the park, where the sculpture will be located, is near the historical 28th Street, an area steeped in tradition.
