Tragedy has struck twice in Georgia with two hit-and-run deaths. In south Atlanta, an unidentified man was killed in the early hours of Dec. 10 after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene,  FOX 5 Atlanta reported. The Atlanta Police Department is appealing to the public for help in locating a silver four-door sedan with a black rooftop, last seen near Lincoln Street SW.

In a separate incident, Samuel Johnson Jr., a 16-year-old football player from Valdosta High School, met a similar fate while trying to save an injured dog on Inner Perimeter Road, according to FOX 8 Live. The police have since found and seized a black Dodge Charger believed to be involved in the accident; however, it's not clear if the driver has been detained.

Authorities in both cases continue their investigations and urge anyone with information to come forward. In Atlanta, tips can be anonymously submitted through Crime Stoppers Atlanta, and informants could receive a reward of up to $2,000, police added, We are heartbroken and devastated by this tragic loss, the Valdosta Touchdown Club posted on Facebook. "He was an amazing young man who was taken from us way too soon."

Authorities said the investigation is still ongoing.
