Chilling gunfire erupted on a Long Beach street just days after Christmas, leaving a male victim hospitalized with wounds to his lower body, officials said Wednesday.
The episode, which played out on the night of December 26, launched Long Beach Police into a probe after the injured man, whose identity hasn't been disclosed, landed in an out-of-town hospital, the LBPD reported. The confrontation took place near Long Beach Boulevard and Anaheim Street when an unidentified assailant approached the victim and fired shots that thrust the victim into an unwanted clash.
Investigators rushed to the mentioned locale in response to the assault with a deadly weapon call, but the suspect had vanished leaving officers with scant clues and no crime scene to parse through. The Long Beach Police Department's official account revealed that the "motive for the shooting is unknown" and the search for the gunman is fervently underway.
