Upon the deputy's arrival, he confronted the suspects which led to the gunfire exchange, the wounded officer was then rushed to Memorial Hermann-Northeast Hospital and is reported to be in fair condition; Gonzalez also mentioned in a follow-up post on X that the deputy is “in good spirits and in good condition” despite the harrowing incident. Two more suspects reportedly fled the scene, and authorities have initiated an active search to locate them, the situation reflecting the all-too-frequent perils law enforcement officials face while on duty.
The suspect who was shot by the deputy was transported to a hospital, but details on their condition have yet to be released. Sheriff's office commanders have made their way to the hospital in a show of support for the injured deputy and to gather further information on the unfolding events of the confrontation.
