Los Angeles County beachgoers, you might want to rethink getting in the water this weekend. The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has issued an ocean water use warning for a host of beaches around the area, advising the public to avoid swimming, surfing, and playing in certain ocean waters due to elevated bacterial levels.
The affected areas are some of L.A.’s most popular slices of coastline - including Malibu Lagoon at Surfrider Beach, Santa Monica Pier, and both piers in Venice and Redondo Beach, and no one wants to take a dip in waters teeming with bacteria, the whole list of affected areas is available on the County's official website.
The health department has given the all-clear to several other locations, including Walnut Creek at Paradise Cove and the Santa Monica South Tower 20.
A 24-hour beach closure hotline has been set up at 1-800-525-5662 and it will give you the latest updates.
