Gospel music legends, the Blind Boys of Alabama, are teaming up with the king of the chitlin circuit, Bobby Rush, for a soul-stirring performance expected to light up the Granville Arts Center on February 10. Doors swing open at 7:30 PM with the show slated to start at 8:00 PM. Fans can snag tickets ranging from $35.00 to $48.00 to witness the harmonic convergence of two monumental forces in American music history.
The Blind Boys of Alabama have a history richly woven into the fabric of gospel music, boasting a career that has stretched over 70 years, raking in five GRAMMY® Awards, and a slew of honors that include Lifetime Achievement Awards from The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), and The Recording Academy/GRAMMYs, as well as an induction into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. With the release of their latest album, 'Echoes Of The South', the group pays homage to late members Paul Beasley and Benjamin Moore, and recently retired leader Jimmy Carter. The Blind Boys continue to share their mantra: “As long as everybody gives all that they have to give, and we sing songs that touch the heart, we'll live on forever”, according to the City of Garland.
Bobby Rush, a titan of the blues scene, has been crafting his legacy for nearly seven decades, contributing to over 400 recordings and unleashing 27 studio albums. His life's work, recently etched into literary form with his autobiography 'I Ain’t Studdin’ Ya: My American Blues Story', has been lauded as “A fascinating story well told... A richly detailed account of a bluesman’s full life" by Kirkus Reviews. The storied artist is no stranger to acclaim with two GRAMMY wins under his belt and an impressive 16-time Blues Music Awards Winner accolade, per the City of Garland.
