Burger aficionados in the San Fernando Valley have a reason to celebrate. Heavy Handed, the Santa Monica-based burger joint acclaimed for its savory smashed patties, is gearing up to serve up their beloved fare in Studio City come next spring. Taking over a 2,500-square-foot space on Ventura Boulevard, the new location promises to replicate the sizzling success of the original spot but with more room to indulge.

According to Eater, co-owner Danny Gordon pointed out that while expanding their beer and wine program, the upcoming venture keeps true to its roots with the "same menu of burgers, ice cream — the same stuff that we're doing in Santa Monica, just on a new side of town." Creating a vibrant new hub for burger lovers, the newest Heavy Handed installment will flaunt indoor seating, unlike anything the Valley has seen before.

Heavy Handed's journey began modestly with a driveway pop-up in Mar Vista back in April 2020. Following a leap onto wheels with a food truck, Danny Gordon and Max Miller, a duo in both business and childhood friendship, brought their mouth-watering burgers to brick-and-mortar life in October 2022. Only blocks from the Pacific Ocean, they cemented their culinary influence in LA's competitive arena of burger peddlers.

While announcing the Studio City expansion, it was clear that Gordon envisions the second Heavy Handed outpost to be more than just another location. Posted on TikTok, the teaser for the 2024 expansion drummed up excitement among the restaurant's dedicated followers, hinting at the same commitment to gourmet burgers that landed them among LA's best. With a "much bigger space," Heavy Handed aims to cater to both old fans and newcomers, tantalizing their taste buds with the highly anticipated Studio City edition.
