Constable Mark Herman's deputies made a holiday bust on December 21st when they nabbed a shoplifter who turned out to be a wanted felon packing more than stolen goods. The incident took place on the 21150 block of Kuykendahl Road and started off as a routine theft arrest, deputies responding to a call about a suspect identified as Summer Smith who allegedly switched tags to cheat the system, attempting to sneak past the checkout without paying full price.

The situation escalated when it became clear that Smith's pockets were lined with more than just pilfered merchandise – officers discovered she was wanted on an open felony warrant for Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, Smith found in possession of numerous syringes, which were found to contain an unidentified narcotic, and illegal substances such as Crystal Meth and Black Tar Heroin.

In a statement released on Facebook, Constable Mark Herman disclosed, "Summer Smith was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail for the felony warrant and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. She is awaiting bail out of the 339th District Court."
