An 11-year-old student in Houston's Alief Independent School District faced a terrifying incident when he was allegedly threatened with a gun and forced to fight after school. According to Lucille Longoria, the boy's mother, the attack took place last week at an apartment complex off Shadowbriar Drive and Richmond Avenue. "They could have killed him, and before the video even started, they put the gun up to my son’s head," Longoria told Fox26 Houston. Harrowing footage of the incident has been circulating on social media, showcasing the violence her son endured.
In an unrelated incident, an elementary student from the same school district has been taken into custody for allegedly bringing a loaded gun to Collins Elementary. District officials disclosed that the student was caught after showing the weapon to classmates, an incident promptly reported to a teacher. Following the alarming revelation, Alief Police were able to swiftly take action, securing both the weapon and the young suspect. In a statement, Alief ISD mentioned to KHOU, “As we are committed in partnering with you in providing a safe environment for our students, we are encouraging parents and guardians to please be aware of what your child is bringing to and from school in his or her backpack,”
Addressing last week's fight, Alief ISD noted, "Alief ISD was made aware of a video circulating of a group of young people fighting last Friday. The parent of one of the students involved contacted a campus administrator to inform them of the video’s existence. This incident did not transpire on school grounds. We worked with local authorities to identify the students in the video and were able to confirm that there were some that were current students in our district. We do not condone bullying of any kind, and we encourage our students to make better choices."
Longoria is overwhelmed and plans to urgently move her family out of the district. "What those other individuals did to my son is not okay. They need to be held responsible. We need to get them off the streets," Longoria expressed to Fox26 Houston.
Longoria said because of the incident, she's working to move out of Alief ISD and transfer her son to a different school district.
