Both a Houston mother and her son, who were charged with running a sex trafficking ring, have been sentenced. However, one of the victims involved remains missing.

A heinous partnership between mother and son, Tasheika Bush and Aryion Jackson, has culminated in their sentencing, as conveyed by FOX 26 Houston. However, the 12-month sentence given to Bush has caused outrage, with Robyn Cory, Kristen Galvan's mother, expressing her dismay. "With the judge handing out less than the minimum for all of these cases, how are we ever going to get ahead of human trafficking,"  Jackson faced a potential life sentence but was ultimately given 27 years behind bars by Judge Lee Rosenthal.

Another family-run trafficking ring has been exposed, with charges against Maria Botello, her spine carrying 54 years; Edgar Botello, 28, her progeny; Arian Botello, 23, her nephew; and Yudy Lucatero, 31, her daughter. The quartet is accused of enmeshing waitresses from the Puerto Alegre bar into a life of coerced commercial sex from 2007 to 2020. Documents, as reported by Click2Houston, detail that Maria Botello would arrange encounters, charging $70 for 15 minutes, enforcing the operations with sights of weapons and threats, and ensuring victims, often adults, bent under their will.

A conviction could firmly plant the Botellos and Lucatero in prison for a minimum of 10 years or a life term. Cory, who told FOX 26 Houston through tears, "That's the only gift I want is my baby. That's all I want. The holidays are the worst because she used to decorate with me every holiday,"

Kristen Galvan was last seen on Bissonnet Street, a strip that was known for years for human trafficking. It's now been shut down.
