A Houston woman and her infant were rushed to the hospital Sunday night after a fire engulfed their home. As reported by FOX 26 Houston, the blaze broke out in the 17300 block of Beaver Springs Drive in the Ponderosa Forest area of north Harris County.
Firefighters who arrived on scene found a two-story house with flames shooting through the roof. According to the Harris County Fire Marshal's Office, three residents were inside when the fire started. An elderly female was able to quickly escape without harm, while the woman and the child were to eventually be taken by ground to the hospital. Tragically, their family dog did not make it out and perished in the fire.
The condition of the hospitalized individuals remains unknown, as details regarding their well-being were not immediately available. No other injuries have been reported in connection with the incident.
While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, Click2Houston notes that the mother and infant were rescued from a back room of the house. Officials have yet to release information on what may have started the fire or to extensively detail the extent of damage incurred to the property.
