A man is currently recovering after a shooting incident that occurred near a downtown Houston hospital Wednesday night, where he was found with a gunshot wound to the leg. According to KPRC 2's report, the Houston Police Department responded to calls around 8:30 p.m. and found the injured man seated in a car on St. Joseph Parkway with two gunshot wounds to his leg.
Officers on the scene, informed by a security officer from a nearby hospital, identified a suspect walking away from the scene who was believed to be connected to the shooting. Upon detainment, the suspect was found to be carrying a pistol. Houston Police Department's Larry Crowson told KPRC 2, “Right now we’re trying to figure out exactly where and what took place during the shooting. I don’t think the shooting took place here,” Crowson suggests that an altercation likely occurred inside the vehicle before the victim drove to the hospital for assistance.
The man who was shot was transported to the trauma center and is expected to survive. As of now, no witnesses to the actual shooting have come forward, leaving details as to what led to the confrontation and subsequent gunfire uncertain.
Additionally, video footage from CW39 captures the moment when the alleged shooter was handcuffed and placed in a squad car by police at the scene. The suspect's identity has not been released, and law enforcement is continuing to investigate the circumstances of the shooting.
