
Houston authorities are on the hunt for a man linked to a deadly shooting in an apartment complex on Houston's south side. In what unfolded as a fatal altercation at 7909 South Sam Houston Parkway East on Wednesday, police are zeroing in on 21-year-old Damarrion Dorise as a person of interest.
According to a news release from the City of Houston, the victim, whose name awaits confirmation by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, was discovered with a gunshot wound. The report detailed how the confrontation began inside an apartment before spilling into a grassy verge near a parking area where the 24-year-old victim was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident, which occurred around 1 p.m. on December 20, led to a swift response from Houston Police Department patrol officers. They found the victim, who endured the bullet's lethal force and was subsequently tendered to by the Houston Fire Department paramedics though, to no avail. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Olive and Detective T. Tyler have taken the lead on this unfolding investigation.
Witnesses suggested a fight had escalated between the victim and another individual, presumed to be Dorise, who allegedly fired the fatal shot. Dorise then fled on foot. Police urging anyone with knowledge of his existence or this case to come forward. The Houston Police provided a June booking photo of Dorise to aid in their plea for public assistance.
