Houston authorities are on the hunt for a suspect captured on surveillance footage in connection with a deadly shooting that happened over the weekend in the city's southeast. The fatal incident occurred at an apartment complex located at 6503 Wanda Lane, where a 44-year-old man was gunned down following a heated argument gone disastrously wrong.
According to a news release from the Houston Police Department, the confrontation took place shortly before 1:00 a.m. on Saturday. Following the dispute, the unidentified Hispanic male suspect is alleged to have shot the victim multiple times. Details remain scarce, but the HPD has released images of the suspected gunman in a bid to quickly apprehend him and to offer closure to a community shaken by violence.
Efforts to identify the victim are currently underway by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. The incident was first responded to by HPD patrol officers who arrived on scene to discover the victim, lifeless, while the Houston Fire Department paramedics officially pronounced him deceased.
Witnesses have reportedly told HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Barrow and Detective J. Caten that the suspect fled the scene with several unidentified individuals. Some took off on foot, while others were seen escaping in a black sedan. The police urge anyone with knowledge of the suspect's identity to step forward and assist, providing a critical puzzle piece to solve this brutal puzzle.
