A deadly burst of road rage claimed the life of a woman and left a man injured early Sunday morning on the Pierce Elevated, a portion of I-45 in downtown Houston. Houston Police Department officers discovered a car riddled with bullets in the southbound lanes near Louisiana Street, as reported by ABC13.
At roughly 1 a.m., the female driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while a male passenger suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder. The injured man was transported to a local hospital for treatment, along with a third man, who was found unharmed. Authorities believe the violence was sparked when the woman allegedly cut off another vehicle, leading the driver of a black four-door sedan to open fire on her vehicle. The Houston Police have embarked on a hunt for the suspect involved in the shooting, piecing together limited information in the aftermath of the incident. Commander Jonathan Halliday with HPD provided advice for drivers to prevent future tragedies. "My advice is everyone gets frustrated but just don't react. Try to separate yourself and go on. There's nothing good in trying to engage with someone over a traffic disturbance," he said in the statement obtained by ABC13.
