A patrol officer from the Irvine Police Department apprehended a suspicious truck harboring three individuals with a slew of criminal charges and warrants to their names. The stop, conducted in the city's Great Park, known for its escalating theft incidents, led to the discovery of a felon among the trio.
The driver, harboring a felony warrant for handling stolen goods and misdemeanors for drugs, burglary, and theft, was accompanied by a female passenger similarly wanted for felony charges and multiple misdemeanors for theft. A third accomplice was found in possession of drug paraphernalia and tools for the trade of copper stripping and theft. Inside the truck, authorities uncovered a backpack stuffed with purloined copper wire and lithium batteries, as detailed by the Irvine Police Department's Facebook post.
The patrol led to the individuals being taken into custody and later booked at the Orange County Jail. The charges stacked against them include the outstanding warrants and the new allegations stemming from their latest attempt at undermining the city's peace and order.
