A knife-wielding lunatic sent shockwaves through Needles, CA, when he reportedly attacked a resident in broad daylight on Wednesday. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department claims Jared Parent, 24, turned violent on the 1100 block of 3rd Street around 1:40 p.m. Tuesday.
Deputies responded to the assault call after Parent allegedly lunged at an unnamed victim with the knife. The person managed to escape injury by jumping back, while the assailant bolted from the scene in his vehicle, he eluded capture only briefly, as officers nabbed him during a traffic stop later that day on I 40 West.
While being transported to jail, he spat on deputies, adding a charge of battery on a peace officer to his rap sheet, according to a Sheriff's Department press release.
Now behind bars, the suspect faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon and is being held on a $40,000.00 bond.
