In a heartwarming display of holiday spirit, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department joined forces with the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) to spread some Christmas cheer among the county's most vulnerable youngsters. The "999 For Kids" Christmas Winter Event, a longstanding tradition, opened its arms to 400 children with severe disabilities, most of whom have been touched by the deep scars of abuse and domestic violence, as posted on their Facebook page.
The festivities, captured in a touching video on Facebook, showcased moments of pure joy as the children interacted with Santa Claus and reveled in winter wonders designed just for them. The kids frolicked in man-made snow, hopped aboard a magical train, and even played with animals in a joyful petting zoo. A classic touch: they were treated to a lunch furnished by McDonald's.
The "999 For Kids" program does more than just throw a party; it's a lifeline that raises funds throughout the year, ensuring these children have access to essential items and services that might otherwise be beyond reach. From sport wheelchairs and braille machines to computers and special education classes, the program endeavors to equip these children with the tools they need to overcome the everyday obstacles posed by their disabilities.
