On November 21, Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers experienced a sudden turn from law enforcers to victims when a supposed DUI driver slammed into them during a search operation on the 57 Freeway. The collision, occurring around 2:05 a.m., left officers from the Newton Division with serious injuries while they were searching for a handgun that was discarded during an active vehicle pursuit.
The incident necessitated an urgent response from paramedics, who swiftly transported the injured officers to the University of California Irvine Medical Center for immediate medical attention. According to a statement obtained by LAPD Newsroom, the Multi-Disciplinary Collision Investigation Team (MCIT) was deployed to the crash site to kick off an administrative report.
