Los Angeles residents are in for a weekend treat with soaring temperatures expected, but forecasters are predicting an upcoming shift to a rainier pattern starting Monday.
According to the National Weather Service, today's outlook promises clear skies and a high of around 79 degrees, with light northeast winds turning northwest. Meanwhile, KABC reports that Southern California will enjoy warm temperatures primarily in the 70s over the weekend, but the weather is set to take a turn with light rain on the horizon for Monday, escalating to heavier showers by Thursday.
Both sources concur on the shift in conditions, with Forecasts.weather.gov projecting a 50 percent chance of rain by Monday night. KABC adds that rainfall can be expected to accumulate between 1-2 inches on Thursday.
KABC also notes that beachgoers should make the most of the weekend, as coastal areas are set to dip from a high of 72 degrees to 60 degrees, with accompanying breezes, as the workweek drags on with the drizzle. In the mountains, skiers might find joy as anticipated snowfall is expected over elevations exceeding 8,000 feet when the rain arrives.
Los Angeles and Orange counties are expected to bask under similar conditions as today throughout Sunday before welcoming the series of rain showers. Likewise, the valleys and the Inland Empire will mirror these weather patterns. The deserts will experience a more pronounced temperature drop, from a daytime high of 66 degrees to a chilling 27 degrees overnight into Sunday.
