UPDATE: Man Arrested for Assault in Calabasas After Striking Victim Pushing Stroller; Motive Under Investigation

Chaos erupted in Calabasas when a man was sucker-punched while pushing a baby in a stroller in what has been described as a random act of violence. According to Hoodline, the assault occurred last Tuesday in broad daylight on Lost Springs Road, near Lost Hills Road. The assailant, who made his getaway in a silver minivan, was later identified and apprehended by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Authorities have since arrested 29-year-old Angel Sanchez Jr. on Wednesday in Santa Barbara, who now faces charges including assault with Force Likely to Produce Great Bodily Injury. Surveillance footage of the incident helped to eventually track down and arrest Sanchez Jr., who was driving a 2005 silver Honda Odyssey with Nevada plates. The arrest was confirmed by a post from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department on X.

The two victims, one a male juvenile and the other a 60-year-old man, both of Asian-American/Pacific Islander descent, were targeted in unprovoked attacks, as announced in a press release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department on Facebook. It remains uncertain if the attacks were racially motivated, as the investigation into the motive continues.

Community members have been left to struggle with the reality of violence infiltrating their haven. "It feels really random...this is a safe neighborhood and we're all just absolutely horrified that something could happen here to someone doing something so innocent like walking their child," a local resident remarked in a statement obtained by ABC7. The Sheriff's Department is urging anyone with additional information to step forward and potentially aid the ongoing investigation.
