
A collision involving a car and a Metro train left one man in serious condition earlier today in Hyde Park. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a crash reported at 12:14 PM at 4936 S Crenshaw Boulevard, where they found a vehicle that had collided with the southbound Purple Line train. According to the LAFD's alert, the driver required extrication from the car, while the train reported no injuries among its ten passengers.
Within 22 minutes, firefighters managed to successfully extricate an approximately 70-year-old male from the crushed vehicle. The patient was then quickly transported to the hospital in serious condition. The LAFD has not yet to release details on what led to the collision. The incident, listed under INC#0830, brought out a significant response from the department, including multiple battalion chiefs and emergency medical services, as detailed by the department's update.
Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters found the car significantly damaged and the train halted. The LAFD dispatched a range of units, including engine companies, technical rescue units, and an ambulance, to the scene at the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and 50th Street, situated in Council District 8.
