Mayor Karen Bass of Los Angeles has made public her "2023 Year in Review" report, which provides a detailed rundown of her administration's achievements in her inaugural year. According to the report, Bass has made strides in addressing homelessness, enhancing public safety, aiding local businesses, pushing for a greener city, and improving municipal services.
In a personal message to the citizens of Los Angeles included in the report, Bass described the year as "exhilarating" and highlighted the collective efforts to assist those living in the streets and in bolstering community-based safety solutions. "When we were faced with crises, whether it was a hurricane or a disastrous fire, we got through them together, and together, with urgency, collaboration, and innovation, we will continue to build a better future in every neighborhood, for every Angeleno," the mayor stated.
The mayor's accomplishments were also the focal point of her Year in Review Address, which took place yesterday at The Rose Venice, a location previously known for its proximity to homeless encampments. These areas have seen significant change, remaining clear for the past year following successful "Inside Safe" operations. Additionally, Mayor Bass facilitated a telephone town hall last night to further discuss the transformations under her leadership.
Wrapping up her "Locking Arms and Delivering for Los Angeles Tour," Mayor Bass welcomed President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden to the city on Friday. She used this occasion to underline her commitment to addressing the pressing issues faced by Los Angeles, including the fight against homelessness and efforts to enhance city safety, support local businesses, promote environmental sustainability, and improve public services. A video recap of her tour is available for public viewing.
